The son of the Crown Princess of Norway, who is on trial for rapes, has been charged with new offenses

The latest charges relate to an incident involving a woman from Oslo, with whom he had a contact ban, the prosecution reports.

A total of 40 different charges have been brought against Marius Borg Høiby.

He was detained just before the start of the trial in early February on suspicion of threats and rapes. Marius has admitted guilt on some counts but denies the charges in four cases of rape.

The trial in the Oslo District Court has been ongoing for 17 days out of the scheduled 28. The court proceedings are subject to strict restrictions that prevent the publication of images of both the defendant and the four women he is accused of raping.

Of all the women mentioned in the case, only one is known — Nora Haukeland, his ex-girlfriend, regarding whom he denies any violent actions. She has already testified in court.

According to the laws, reckless behavior is punishable by imprisonment for up to two years. If Marius Borg Høiby is found guilty of more serious charges, he could face at least 10 years in prison.

Marius Borg Høiby is the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit; he grew up in the royal family but is not a full member of the Norwegian royal house. His mother married Crown Prince Haakon when he was just four years old, in 2001.
