A 29-year-old Marius Borg Høiby, son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, was detained in Norway, as reported by the Norwegian news agency NTB, citing his lawyer. Høiby is set to appear in court as early as tomorrow.

According to the Oslo police, Høiby was arrested the night before in connection with new charges. He is suspected of causing bodily harm, making threats with a knife, and violating a court order prohibiting contact. These charges have been added to an existing case that is currently under consideration in court.

The indictment includes a total of 38 counts. Among the most serious are four alleged rapes, as well as various forms of physical and psychological violence against several former partners. The investigation claims that some of the crimes were committed while the victims were asleep or in a state of severe intoxication.

Law enforcement agencies have photographic evidence and video recordings. Høiby himself has previously admitted to being under the influence of cocaine and alcohol and has been struggling with drug addiction for a long time. If found guilty, he could face up to 16 years in prison.
