From February 10 to 14, precipitation is expected in most regions of Tajikistan. In the valley and foothill areas, it will be mainly rain, in the mountainous areas — rain mixed with snow, and in the high-altitude areas — snow, reports the Agency for Hydrometeorology of the Republic.
Changes in the weather are associated with the movement of a western cyclone and frontal atmospheric divisions. Snow is forecasted in the passes, sometimes heavy, as well as an increase in wind speed up to 15-20 m/s. This may hinder movement on mountain highways due to snow drifts and reduced visibility.
From February 11 to 14, heavy precipitation may occur in some valley and mountainous areas under the jurisdiction of the republic.
On February 12, under the influence of a western anticyclone, air temperatures are expected to be 2-3 degrees lower than before. In Dushanbe, during this week, temperatures will fluctuate between +11 to +15 degrees.
From February 10 to 14, in avalanche-prone areas along the Dushanbe – Chanak road (in sections 48–74 km, including Maykhura and Zideh in the Varzob district), as well as in the mountainous areas under republican jurisdiction and in the west of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, possible snow avalanches are predicted.
Due to the worsening weather conditions, the population, especially drivers, is advised to avoid trips to mountainous and avalanche-prone areas unless absolutely necessary.
