From January 27 to 29, an increase in precipitation is expected in several regions of Tajikistan, which will lead to a high avalanche danger, according to information from the Hydrometeorology Agency of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the government of the country.
Tomorrow, snowfall is predicted in most regions, including the capital.
The most critical situation, according to meteorologists, is expected on January 28 and during the night of January 29.
The agency has identified several zones where there is a threat of avalanches:
- the Dushanbe – Chanak road (section 48–74 km);
- the Maihura and Zideh areas in the Varzob district;
- mountainous areas under republican jurisdiction;
- the Manem, Vuj, Tangiv, and Bidur sections in the Shugnan district of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.
In this regard, it is strongly recommended to avoid trips to mountainous and avalanche-prone areas unless absolutely necessary.
Those responsible for road traffic and transport services should take additional measures to ensure safety.
Previously, the Hydrometeorology Agency of Tajikistan reported that January 2026 will be relatively warm in most regions.
The average monthly air temperature is expected to be 1–2 degrees above the climatic norm. At the same time, the amount of precipitation will be either around the norm or, in some areas, below it, with possible sharp temperature fluctuations in mountainous regions.
