Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf stated that this decision is based on Article 7 of the law on countering the recognition of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. According to him, the armies of European countries are now regarded as terrorist formations.

“In their attempt to attack the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the Europeans have actually struck themselves by making decisions that contradict the interests of their own people and following the directives of the United States,” Ghalibaf noted while addressing the deputies.

Additionally, the parliament speaker reported that the national security commission will discuss the possibility of expelling military attaches from EU countries and will continue this dialogue with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It is worth noting that on January 29, Josep Borrell, the head of EU diplomacy, announced that the foreign ministers of EU countries reached a consensus on including the IRGC in the list of terrorist organizations. This decision was made in response to its involvement in suppressing mass protests in Iran that began in late December.
