The implementation of the "Genossenschaft" system for agricultural cooperatives in Mongolia is aimed at improving the economic and market competitiveness of its participants.
The "Uylgan" cooperative, located in the Tsagaan-Uur somon of the Khovsgol aimag, has signed a memorandum of cooperation with the German cooperative "Untere Spreewald" from Brandenburg. Simultaneously, the "Shosooloshton" cooperative from the Darkhan-Uul aimag has entered into a similar agreement with the "Grossmar" cooperative. These memorandums involve a joint program for training young specialists in agriculture in Germany. This information is provided by MiddleAsianNews.
According to the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry, the agreement includes the implementation of a training program for young personnel in agriculture.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food, Badamsuren Myagmarsuren, signed the memorandums during his participation in the Berlin Conference of Agriculture Ministers 2026 and the 18th Global Forum on Food and Agriculture, which took place in Berlin from January 16 to 18, 2026. He also visited the "International Green Week," an exhibition dedicated to modern trends in sustainable development of the agricultural sector.
During the events, meetings were held with Hanka Mittelstedt, the Minister of Agriculture and Food, and Georg-Ludwig von Breitenbuch, the Minister of Agriculture and Environment of Saxony. They discussed possible joint projects in agriculture, improving the legal framework of the sector, and implementing the "Genossenschaft" system for cooperatives in Mongolia, which should enhance their economic and market competitiveness.
The forum gathered over 80 ministers and representatives of international organizations to discuss global food security, climate change, and sustainable water resource management. Participants unanimously agreed on the need to implement modern technologies in agriculture to ensure food security and protect the environment.
Genossenschaft represents a form of association of individuals or organizations created to achieve economic and social goals through joint actions. Following the principles of cooperation, this system provides support to its members when individual efforts are insufficient, while maintaining their independence. Unlike companies, cooperatives act in the interests of their participants rather than external investors and are considered private legal entities.
