WSJ: The Chinese Army Shaken by a Major Purge
According to reports from The Wall Street Journal, General Zhang Yuxia, who is the senior deputy chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China and one of the key commanders of the army, is under investigation. He has been accused of "serious violations of party discipline and laws."

Additionally, General Liu Zhenli, head of the Joint Staff of the Chinese Armed Forces, is also in the spotlight. He faces similar allegations related to his official duties.

The publication emphasizes that both generals were important figures in the process of modernizing the army, being among the few Chinese military leaders with real combat experience. Their removal, according to the authors of the article, indicates Xi Jinping's intention to intensify the fight against corruption and eliminate officers who may pose a political threat.

Furthermore, WSJ reports that in recent years, dozens of high-profile military and defense officials have been removed in China, raising questions about Beijing's ability to create an army capable of competing with Western powers.
