In China, an investigation has been launched against two high-profile military officials.
According to the Ministry of National Defense, Zhang Yuxia, who is a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the deputy chairman of the Central Military Commission, as well as Liu Zhenli, a member of the Central Military Commission and chief of staff of the Joint Staff, are suspected of "serious violations of discipline and law."
Zhang Yuxia, who is now 75 years old, holds one of the highest positions in the Chinese military leadership and is one of the few generals with real combat experience, including participation in the Sino-Vietnamese War of 1979 and the Battle of Laoshan in 1984.
Liu Zhenli, 61 years old, is also a decorated war veteran who has climbed the ranks and became the youngest senior general of the PLA, and in 2022 he headed the Joint Staff Department.
