Spain has entered a three-day mourning period following a horrific incident in the south of the country, where two trains collided, as reported by the Kazinform agency, citing Euronews.

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, accompanied by Transport Minister Óscar Puente and the head of the Andalusian government Juanma Moreno, visited the site of the tragedy in the municipality of Adamus, Córdoba province. As a result of the collision, 41 people lost their lives.

At this time, the causes of the disaster have not been determined.

Sánchez stated that "we will find out the truth and do so openly," adding that the investigation will take time and require the efforts of specialists.

He described the event as "a day of pain for the entire country," expressed condolences to the families of the deceased, and wished a speedy recovery to those who were injured. The Prime Minister also assured that the state would provide all necessary support to the victims and their families.

The CEO of the railway company Iryo, Carlos Bertumeu, reported that the train involved in the accident had been in operation for less than three years and was equipped with modern safety systems. He also noted that the vehicle had recently passed all necessary technical inspections and expressed readiness to cooperate with the investigation, providing the company's resources to assist the authorities.

The incident occurred on the evening of January 18, when a train operated by a private company, traveling from Malaga to Madrid, derailed, crossed onto an adjacent track, and collided with a train on the Madrid-Huelva route. Both trains had approximately 400 passengers on board.
