International Organization for Migration Requests $2.5 Billion for Crisis Response
In 2026, IOM's priorities were clearly defined, focusing on the most pressing needs. Although financial requests have decreased compared to previous years, this does not indicate that needs have diminished. Limited resources will be directed towards the most critical situations affecting vulnerable populations and those operations that can save lives and help stabilize communities, while still leaving room for expanding assistance as additional funds become available.
As reported by the UN News Service, an important trend is evident across all 32 plans: millions of lives depend on timely and stable funding. The 2026 crisis response plans translate global needs into specific priorities, demonstrating how every dollar invested in these initiatives contributes to ensuring the safety and dignity of people in crisis, as well as their recovery.
