Electricity consumption in Kyrgyzstan has increased to 19.3 billion kWh — A meeting on energy took place in the Cabinet of Ministers
Of the total volume, 15.4 billion kWh was produced domestically, while 3.9 billion kWh was imported. This data was announced at a meeting dedicated to preparations for the autumn-winter period of 2025–2026, chaired by Bakyt Torobaev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing Industry.
Meeting participants noted that water inflow is decreasing: currently, the water level in the Toktogul Reservoir is 9.102 cubic meters, which is 1.631 cubic meters less compared to the same period in 2024. Experts warn that water shortages may negatively impact electricity generation, making it important to adhere to consumption limits.
To successfully navigate the heating season, it is necessary to stockpile 3,174.792 thousand tons of coal. According to the Cabinet of Ministers, coal and fuel oil reserves are sufficient, including resources at the Bishkek and Osh CHPs.
As a result of the meeting, Bakyt Torobaev instructed to ensure stable electricity supply, heating supply, and fuel delivery for the population and social facilities, as well as to intensify efforts during the heating season.
