In India, they are searching for an elephant with one tusk that has killed 22 people since January 1.

Since the beginning of January, in the Indian state of Jharkhand, an elephant with one tusk has been responsible for the deaths of 22 people. Forest services are actively searching for it.
According to available information, the animal visits villages at night. The first victim of the attack was a 35-year-old man, followed by tragedies that claimed the lives of a married couple and their two children, as well as a forest department worker.
In the area of Chaibasa, where the elephant was last seen, residents are strongly advised to stay home at night and avoid walking in the forests. Experts believe this is a young male that has separated from its herd and is showing clear aggression.
The forest department has made three attempts to tranquilize the elephant, but each one has been unsuccessful. The animal can travel up to 30 kilometers a day, and more than a hundred staff and wildlife experts from different states have been involved in the search.
This situation has escalated amid increasing conflicts between humans and wild elephants in India, which is linked to deforestation and the reduction of migration corridors. Over the past five years, more than 2800 people have died as a result of such encounters.
