Trump announced consideration of "tough" measures against Iran due to protests

Trump stated that he is considering 'tough' measures against Iran due to protests

Discussing the possibility of Iran crossing the "red line" regarding the killing of protesters, Trump noted: "It seems they are starting to cross that line. Apparently, people are dying who should not be killed. These people are brutal — it is unclear whether they are real leaders or just rule through violence. We take this situation very seriously. The military is studying this, and we are considering several very tough options. A decision will be made." These words were recorded by Clash Report.

Additionally, Trump stated that the Iranian leadership has initiated negotiations with the United States: "We may have to act before the meeting. The meeting is currently being organized. Iran has already called, they want to negotiate." He is also in contact with leaders of the Iranian opposition, according to Reuters.

Since the end of December, large-scale protests have continued in Iran, with participants demanding a change of political regime. According to the human rights organization HRANA, at least 544 people have died during the protests. Iranian authorities accuse the U.S. and Israel of organizing these actions.
