U.S. State Department Urges Americans to Leave Venezuela Immediately
The department also reported an increase in the activity of armed groups that are setting up checkpoints and inspecting vehicles for the presence of American citizens or their support. Therefore, all Americans traveling on the roads should be extremely vigilant.
Additionally, there are ongoing disruptions to electricity and utility services throughout Venezuela.
The highest travel advisory level has been issued for Venezuela - Level 4 ("Do Not Travel"). This is due to serious threats such as the risk of wrongful detention, torture, terrorism, kidnapping, arbitrary enforcement of local laws, high crime rates, civil unrest, and issues within the healthcare system.
It is worth noting that in March 2019, the State Department withdrew all embassy personnel from Caracas and suspended its operations. As a result, all consular services, including emergency services, are no longer available in Venezuela, and the U.S. government cannot provide assistance to its citizens in the country.
