Time: The number of deaths in protests in Iran has exceeded 200 people

According to data provided by Time magazine, the number of fatalities in the protests in Iran may have exceeded 200 people. This information came from a doctor in Tehran, while official sources refuse to publish their data.

Despite internet access restrictions, videos of the events continue to emerge from the country, which were presumably transmitted via Starlink satellite communication. The footage shows mass riots occurring in Tehran: residential buildings and religious structures are on fire, including the Al-Rasul mosque located in the northwest of the capital.

According to the videos, demonstrators in Saadat Abad Square are chanting slogans against Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Fires are also visible in this area. In the Narmak district in the northeast of Tehran, there are reports of residential buildings catching fire, while sounds of gunfire and screams can be heard.

As reported by the Associated Press, protests are also taking place in other cities such as Mashhad, Tabriz, and Qom. Emigrant television channels from Iran are publishing footage showing the use of force by law enforcement agencies.

The human rights organization Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO) reports that hundreds of people have been injured, and the actual number of casualties may be significantly higher than the previously announced figures. Time magazine, in contact with a doctor in Tehran, learned that at least 217 deceased demonstrators had been registered in six hospitals in the capital, most of whom died from gunshot wounds. It is currently impossible to confirm this data with independent sources.

Earlier, Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei called for a harsh crackdown on the protests. Additionally, the head of Iran's judiciary, Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, stated that participants in the demonstrations would face severe punishment without legal leniency.
