The Russian authorities plan to introduce measures of responsibility for labor migrants who do not undergo mandatory medical examinations. This statement was made by the Chairman of the State Duma, Vyacheslav Volodin.

The period during which foreigners arriving for more than three months must undergo a medical examination will be reduced from 90 to 30 days. All examination results must be sent by medical institutions to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, and in case of infectious diseases, to the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (Rospotrebnadzor). These measures are aimed at the prompt deportation of migrants in case of violations.

Administrative penalties are provided for evasion of medical examination, including fines and the possibility of deportation from the country by court decision.

Furthermore, the forgery of medical documents by migrants will be considered a criminal offense.

“These measures will help strengthen control over migrants and increase the level of public safety,” noted Vyacheslav Volodin.
