In Russia, plans are underway to tighten a number of requirements for migrants.

Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, announced the preparation of new legislative initiatives in the field of migration through his Telegram channel.
The following is proposed:
1. Reduction of the mandatory medical examination period for foreign citizens from 90 to 30 days if they have been in Russia for more than three months.
2. The obligation of medical institutions to transmit information:
  • to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia about issued medical certificates;
  • to Rospotrebnadzor about identified infectious diseases among migrants for prompt deportation.

3. Introduction of administrative responsibility for evading medical examination, which may result in a fine and expulsion by court decision.
4. Toughening of criminal liability for forging documents confirming the absence of dangerous diseases, as well as for their distribution.
It is worth noting that starting from 2025, the requirements for migrants in Russia have been tightened: the visa-free stay period has been reduced to 90 days per year (starting January 1), a new procedure for expulsion has been introduced, and from the end of June 2025, visa-free entrants are required to notify about the purpose of their visit through the "RuID" app 72 hours before the trip.
Additionally, a new phase of the experiment for foreign citizens entering the country started on December 1.
