Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov participated in a meeting of the board of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, where achievements for the year 2025 were discussed. Representatives from regional departments of physical culture and sports, members of the board, and the National Olympic Committee were also present, as reported by the press service of the Cabinet.
In his speech, Edil Baisalov noted that the establishment of a specialized agency has contributed to the concentration of resources and increased management efficiency in sports. He pointed out the ongoing support from the state in this area: “The volume of funding is significantly increasing. If in 2020 about 800 million soms were allocated, then in 2025 this amount will reach almost 2.6 billion soms. He highlighted that a key task is to expand access to physical culture and sports, modernize infrastructure, prepare an Olympic reserve, and develop mass sports, including the opening of sports sections in educational institutions. Support for women's sports will also be a focus.
Additionally, the Deputy Prime Minister noted the importance of preparing for the XXXIV Summer Olympic Games and the XVIII Summer Paralympic Games, which will be held in Los Angeles: “The Olympics is the highest goal of sports. It is necessary to analyze the current shortcomings now and ensure quality preparation of our athletes.”
During the meeting, instructions were also given to expedite the launch of the state enterprise "Kyrgyz Center for Sports Medicine," improve safety measures at mass competitions, and enhance the digitization of services in the field of sports. The Kyrgyz State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports was tasked with reviewing its activities and strengthening the training of specialists in new sports disciplines.
In 2026, Kyrgyzstan plans to host several major international tournaments, including the Asian Wrestling Championship and the Central Asian Sailing Championship on Lake Issyk-Kul, as well as the World Nomad Games.
