Erlan Sherov won the gold medal at the Open European Cup
Erlan Sherov, a judoka from Kyrgyzstan, won the Open European Cup, claiming the gold medal. This was reported by sports journalist Tahir Gafurov on his social media page link.

The tournament took place in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia.

According to Gafurov, Erlan started the competition by skipping the first round. In the 1/16 finals, he defeated Belgian Karl Fubert, then in the 1/8 finals he beat Lithuanian Augustas Slizerinets. Moving forward, in the quarterfinals, he overcame Frenchman Eniel Caroli. In the semifinals, the Kyrgyzstani triumphed over Egyptian Abdallah Abdelsameh. In the decisive match for first place, he defeated Russian David Karapetyan, which earned him the title of champion in the weight category up to 90 kilograms.

Erlan Sherov is a master of sports of international class in judo and a graduate of the Specialized Children's and Youth Olympic Reserve School. This year, he also became the champion of Asia.
