The World Boxing Council (WBC) announced a mandatory fight for Oleksandr Usyk against Agit Kabayel.
According to the rules, the WBC heavyweight champion must defend his title in the next bout.
In December, Usyk lost one of his WBO titles, which is now held by Fabio Wardley. If he refuses to meet Kabayel, he may lose his second belt as well.
WBC representatives noted that Usyk is entitled to one voluntary title defense before the fight with Kabayel. The media also discussed the possibility of Usyk facing Deontay Wilder, but the latter has already agreed to fight Derek Chisora. Tyson Fury is also being considered as a potential opponent for Usyk, although he is currently preparing for a fight with Arslanbek Makhmudov.
Usyk's last fight was against Daniel Dubois in July 2025 in London, where he won by knockout in the fifth round, becoming the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. His professional debut took place in November 2013 when he faced Mexican Felipe Romero, also winning by knocking out his opponent in the fifth round.
