Tyson Fury, who is currently 37 years old, began his professional boxing career in 2008 and has been a world champion twice. In his last fight, which took place in December 2024, he lost to Oleksandr Usyk by unanimous decision.
Fury reacted with excitement to the announcement of his return, emphasizing that his heart always belongs to boxing. In Saudi Arabia, they are also eagerly awaiting this fight: Turki Al Sheikh described it as an exciting heavyweight showdown. However, details about the venue and the undercard are still being kept secret, with organizers promising to reveal them soon.
Fury will return to the ring on April 11, where he will face the dangerous Russian boxer Arslanbek Makhmudov. This will be his first fight on home soil in nearly four years, as well as the first live boxing broadcast on the Netflix platform in the UK.
According to Ring magazine, the choice of Makhmudov as an opponent is explained by Fury's need to "shake off the rust," especially before a possible fight with Anthony Joshua at the end of the year. However, one should not underestimate Makhmudov's experience and skills, as he has 21 wins, 19 of which are by knockout, and only two losses.
Makhmudov, who fights in Canada, recently secured a convincing victory over British fighter David Allen, winning the intercontinental title from the WBA. His previous setbacks in fights against Agit Kabayel and Guido Vianello did not prevent him from returning to the winning path.
UFC Hall of Famer and former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov also shared his thoughts on the upcoming fight. He noted that Fury often announces his retirement but always returns to the ring. "Tyson is a great champion, and I will be interested to watch his fight against the Dagestani," added Nurmagomedov.
