Emilbek Baltagulov Appointed Director of the Jalal-Abad Regional Philharmonic

Emilbek Baltagulov, a well-known Kyrgyz composer and performer, has been appointed as the director of the Toktosun Tynibekov Jalal-Abad Regional Philharmonic.

Timurlan Azimaliev, the Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy, introduced the new leader to the philharmonic artists, wishing the team cohesion and success in their work under the new director.

Emilbek Baltagulov was born on September 28, 1981, in the city of Terek-Sai, located in the Chatkal district of the Jalal-Abad region.

After completing his studies at school, he enrolled in the music department of the Faculty of Arts at Osh State University, which he successfully graduated from in 2004, receiving a diploma with honors.

Career

- 2004–2007 — lecturer at the Faculty of Arts of Osh State University;

- 2010–2011 — artistic director of the House of Culture in Terek-Sai;

- 2013–2019 — artist at the Jalal-Abad Philharmonic named after T. Tynibekov;

- 2015–2017 — deputy director of the philharmonic;

- 2016–2019 academic years — teacher at secondary school No. 24 named after Gulnara Bakieva;

- since January 2019 — head of the music club "Zhas Talant" at the educational center of the Suzak district;

- since June 24, 2019 — director of the cultural and technical college in Jalal-Abad;

- since October 28, 2021 — director of the Jalal-Abad Regional Kyrgyz Drama Theater named after Barpy;

- since November 2022 — director of the Jalal-Abad Regional Philharmonic named after Toktosun Tynibekov (prior to the current appointment).

Emilbek is the author of five dastans and over 70 songs. He has been awarded the title of "Excellence in Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic" and has become a laureate of various competitions, as well as received commendations from several government institutions.

He is married and raising three children — two daughters and a son.
