The list of training areas for specialists in Kyrgyz universities is set to be revised.

At the recent extended meeting organized by the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations, important issues concerning the reform of the education system in the country were discussed. The event was attended not only by university rectors but also by deputy ministers and representatives of various structural divisions of the ministry. Regional rectors had the opportunity to participate in the discussion in an online format.

The main focus of the meeting was on current reforms and priorities in the development of higher and secondary vocational education. In particular, the transition to new state educational standards in light of the implementation of the 12-year school system was discussed, as well as the need to revise the list of training areas and update educational programs in accordance with modern needs.

During the meeting, important aspects in the field of science were also discussed, such as the development of scientific potential, improving the quality of research, and strengthening the connection between science and education.

Moreover, special attention was paid to the role of educational and methodological associations, the implementation of a key performance indicators (KPI) system in universities, and ensuring the transparency of their operations.

Measures to improve the quality of higher education and develop innovative processes were also considered, including updating educational and research programs, enhancing the scientific potential of universities, and improving quality management.

As part of the meeting, information was presented on current initiatives for the digitalization of the education system and plans for the near future.

The discussion also touched on the draft Strategy for the Development of Higher Education for 2026–2030 and key areas of the National Development Program until 2030, which include the implementation of a dual education system, expanding cooperation between universities and businesses, updating specialist training programs, and developing new promising areas.

Minister Gulzat Isamatova emphasized the need for comprehensive modernization of higher education, increasing the practical orientation of training, and integrating science, education, and production. She noted that such meetings will be held in all universities across the country in the format of field sessions with a summary of the work of each educational institution.

At the end of the meeting, priority tasks were identified, and corresponding instructions were given.
