Starting April 1 of this year, the salaries of medical workers in Kyrgyzstan will increase by 100%. This was announced by the press secretary of the country's president, Askhat Alagozov.
Alagozov noted that President Sadyr Japarov had previously emphasized the need to support doctors and increase their salaries.
Currently, the government is actively working on addressing the shortage of medical personnel and reducing the burden on medical institutions.
The president highly values the work of doctors and has instructed that they be given priority rights to obtain housing through a mortgage on favorable terms via the State Mortgage Company, which should improve the social status of medical workers," added the press secretary.
Young specialists who have just completed their studies at medical universities currently earn 13,581 soms, but after the increase, their salary will amount to 35,248 soms.
Alagozov noted that this is just an example of the minimum salary, and more experienced doctors will earn even more, as additional payments, including seniority bonuses, will remain in place.
For doctors working in remote and high-altitude areas, an additional salary increase of 30% is expected.
As part of the "Doctor's Deposit" program, medical workers also receive 66,000 soms quarterly from the government.
In addition, young specialists willing to work in in-demand specialties (pediatrician, neonatologist, anesthesiologist, resuscitator, general surgeon) will receive an additional payment of 20,000 soms monthly.
The salaries of 28,000 nurses in the country will also increase from 8,541 to 29,053 soms, which is almost a tripling (not including additional payments and bonuses for working in challenging conditions).
Currently, there is a critical need for doctors of various specialties in Kyrgyzstan's medical institutions — the total number of vacancies is 1,596," emphasized Alagozov.

"If you have just graduated from a medical university and are looking for a job, or if you previously worked in medicine but left for some reason, we recommend contacting the nearest hospital for information about vacancies," added Askhat Alagozov.
We also strongly urge you to pass this information on to acquaintances with medical education who are seeking work," concluded the press secretary.
