The President ratified the relevant grant agreement with Japan

Sadyr Japarov, the President of Kyrgyzstan, signed a law ratifying the Exchange Notes that were signed on December 12, 2026, in Bishkek between the Cabinet of Ministers and the Government of Japan. These documents pertain to the project "Improvement of Medical Equipment in Referral Hospitals in the Southern Regions" and the grant agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). This information was provided by the presidential administration.

This law was approved by the Jogorku Kenesh on February 26, 2025.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Japanese government is allocating a grant of up to 1,801,000,000 Japanese yen to support the implementation of the project to improve medical equipment in the southern referral hospitals of Kyrgyzstan.

The goal of the project is to strengthen the capabilities for diagnosing and treating non-communicable diseases, including cardiovascular and oncological diseases. This will be achieved by providing modern medical equipment, which, in turn, will enhance the quality of medical services. The implementation of this project will significantly improve access to specialized medical care for the population of Osh, Jalal-Abad, and Batken regions,” the statement notes.
