Representatives of the presidential envoy in the Jalal-Abad region, a deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, employees of the state administration of the Aksy district, as well as close relatives of the deceased and witnesses of those events participated in the memorial action.
The presidential envoy Tilek Tekebaev noted that the events in the Aksy district became a key moment in the modern history of Kyrgyzstan. He emphasized that this tragedy highlighted the importance of values such as national unity, peace, and the rule of law for strengthening statehood.
The participants of the event laid flowers at the monument erected in honor of the deceased, after which a memorial prayer was held.
As a result of the clashes on March 16-17, 2002, in the Aksy district, 6 people were killed, and another 28 were injured to varying degrees.
This year, at the direction of the presidential envoy, material assistance was provided to the families of the victims and the injured from the reserve fund.
