Attending the event were not only the victims but also the authorized representative of the president in the Jalal-Abad region, Tilek Tekebaev, as well as local authorities and residents of the region.
According to the Azattyk agency, during the memorial ceremony, the victims addressed the president through the regional representative. One of them, Maksatbek Momunaliev, expressed a request for free medical services and annual funding for rehabilitation in sanatoriums. The appeal was signed by 33 people.
For reference, in March 2002, on the days of the 17th to the 18th, in the village of Bospiek, law enforcement officers opened fire on peaceful protesters, resulting in the deaths of six people. The cause of discontent was the transfer of the Uzongu-Kuush plot to China and the arrest of the deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, Azimbek Beknazarov, who opposed these actions.
