According to information from the Road Traffic Safety Department (RTSD) of the regional internal affairs office, the purpose of this event was to develop effective measures to reduce the level of road traffic accidents. The forum was attended by representatives from the presidential representative office in the region, the city administration of Karakol, the Ministry of Education, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (Muftiyat), road services, as well as young traffic inspectors and public organizations.
During the discussions, participants examined the statistics of traffic accidents in the region and identified key factors contributing to accidents. At the end of the forum, a resolution was adopted, which stated:
- each government agency was tasked with strengthening measures to prevent traffic accidents within their areas of responsibility.
- more active cooperation between educational institutions and law enforcement agencies was planned.
- road services must promptly address infrastructure issues that contribute to accidents.
Additionally, artists from the Issyk-Kul Regional Musical and Drama Theater named after K. Zhantoshev presented a performance illustrating the consequences of violating traffic rules. The event concluded with a concert program featuring local performers.
Turmush previously reported that seasonal factors also contribute to the increase in the number of traffic accidents in the Issyk-Kul region. This is especially true for the roads Bishkek-Balykchy-Karakol and Bishkek-Bokonbaev-Karakol during the summer tourist season (July-August).
The main causes of accidents are speeding (many drivers do not adhere to the established speed limits), overtaking, crossing into oncoming traffic, as well as inattention and fatigue after long trips.
