On March 11, the mayor of the city of Osh, Janarbek Akayev, held a meeting with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to the Kyrgyz Republic, Nicholas Bowler.
According to the information provided by the mayor's office, the discussions focused on areas of further cooperation, including education, sports, as well as urban infrastructure development and investment opportunities.
Akayev expressed interest in collaborating with the UK Export Finance Agency (UKEF). In particular, he proposed considering the possibility of constructing a new bypass road around the city with the support of this agency.
According to the mayor, the implementation of this project could:
- Improve traffic flows within the city.
- Reduce the number of traffic jams on the roads.
- Redirect transit traffic outside the city.
- Enhance road safety.
