Farmers from the Moscow Region Comment on Rumors of Livestock Disease and the Situation with Milk Purchase Prices
The Kachkeeva family, who moved to Petrovka from the southern regions of the country in 2014, actively develops livestock farming, continuing the traditions of their ancestors. Elmira shares: “My husband Bakyt is a veterinarian; he is excellent at caring for livestock. I help him with everything. We not only run the farm but also raise four children and enjoy our grandchildren.”
They currently have three cows on their farm. In the morning, special collectors pick up the milk, and its quality is checked, with the price depending on the fat content. With a price of 42 soms per liter and an average volume of 40 liters per day, the family earns a good income.
Bakyt Köközov [Kokkozov], as a veterinary specialist, emphasizes the importance of adhering to veterinary standards for successful farming: “Caring for livestock requires constant attention. It is important not only to feed them but also to monitor the health of the animals. The main threats include brucellosis, foot-and-mouth disease, ringworm, echinococcosis, and helminthiasis. Vaccination, cleanliness, and proper nutrition are key factors in preventing diseases.”

In response to rumors about “unknown diseases” among livestock circulating on the internet, Bakyt stated that everything is stable in their area. He conducts preventive measures, while Elmira ensures that sanitary standards are followed during milking.
Local farmers send their milk to processing plants such as “Zheti-Baatyr,” “Ak-Sut,” “Ursus,” and other small enterprises.
These enterprises operate under strict standards established by the Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 724 dated December 2, 2024, and the decision of the Jogorku Kenesh. According to the regulations, the following indicators are taken into account:
- basic fat content: 3.4%.
- protein content: 2.8%.
According to local residents, the prices for milk from private milk trucks range from 40 to 45 soms per liter, depending on the quality of the raw material.
Nurbek Isakov, head of the veterinary and livestock development department of the Moscow district, confirmed the absence of cases of livestock diseases from “unknown diseases.” Veterinary services regularly conduct monitoring and vaccination. It has also been instructed that the purchase price of milk should not fall below 38 soms in summer and 40 soms in winter (at a standard fat content of 3.4%).
The situation in the Panfilov district also remains stable. Authorities emphasize the importance of food security, especially due to the border status of the region, and farmers are interested in maintaining a healthy herd, as this directly affects their financial situation.
