GNS: Legalization of Employment is the Main Task of the Sewing Industry

Deputy Chairman of the State Tax Service Kubanychbek Isabekov stated in an interview on Birinchi Radio that one of the key problems facing the sewing industry is informal employment.
“The presence of a shadow economy in the sewing business is a significant problem. We regularly encounter this in meetings with entrepreneurs,” he emphasized.

According to Isabekov, the issue of legalization becomes particularly important in light of the tightening control over exports to Russia. Russian authorities require that all supplies be made in accordance with legislation and with the payment of all taxes, including VAT.

He also noted that many business representatives in the past reported only a part of their employees. “For example, if 20 people were actually working, only a couple or three might be listed in the reports,” added the deputy head of the GNS.

Kubanychbek Isabekov stressed that the sewing industry needs to start with a clean slate and avoid returning to previous violations.

As of today, official statistics indicate that about 10,000 to 13,000 workers in the sewing industry are registered, for whom income taxes are paid. However, real employment estimates are significantly higher — from 100,000 to 200,000 people. “We hope that we can legalize at least 50,000 to 100,000 workers. Insurance contributions are the future welfare of our citizens,” he concluded.
