Recently, the participants of the "Zhany Dem" group celebrated International Women's Day, turning the March 8 holiday into an unforgettable event filled with warmth and sincere feelings.
On this day, the hall was filled with music, applause, and joyful performances. The participants prepared a variety of acts: they sang favorite songs, danced, and recited poetry. For many, it was their debut performance, but the excitement quickly turned into joy, as friends and like-minded individuals were nearby to support and assist in the preparation.
The "Zhany Dem" group actively participated in the concert, and their heartfelt performances and friendly atmosphere made the celebration particularly vibrant. Vocal and dance instructors such as Lunara Jumabek, Tynara Jumabaeva, and Khalida Dodobaeva not only teach the participants but also inspire them to unveil their talents, encourage them to try new things, and believe in their own abilities.
These meetings remind us of an important truth: age is not just a number of years lived, but a vast life experience and wisdom that help support one another. Elderly people especially value communication, share warmth, and rejoice in every moment spent together.
After the concert, the participants continued to socialize over a cup of tea, reminiscing about their youth, sharing news, and laughing. In such moments, the strength of friendship and support is particularly felt. Such meetings become an important part of life for many.
The "Active Longevity" program started in Bishkek in the fall of 2024 with the aim of helping elderly people remain active, feel needed, and develop. The project is supported by the "Socium" public foundation.
Program participants can receive consultations from specialists and try various activities. They are offered free courses in Kyrgyz and English, as well as digital literacy classes, where they learn to use smartphones and the internet.

Creative pursuits such as vocal, dance, drawing, and various types of handicrafts are also popular. To maintain health, classes in gymnastics, yoga, and Nordic walking are offered.
However, perhaps the most valuable thing that participants find in the program is new friendships and a sense of belonging to a community. Many come not only for learning but also for socializing. For some, it is a chance to escape loneliness, while for others, it is an opportunity to once again become part of an active team.
Dr. Batma Estebesova, head of the "Active Longevity" department and director of the "Socium" foundation, emphasizes that such initiatives play an important role in the lives of elderly people.
"We observe how participants change when they start attending classes. They gain new friends, interests, and self-confidence. Our goal is to support older adults, helping them remain active and valuable to society," she noted.

To date, more than 260 retirees from Bishkek have already become acquainted with the "Active Longevity" program, and about 60 people regularly attend classes and events. The community continues to grow — participants share information with each other about where to spend time productively and interestingly.
The organizers emphasize that the program is open to all elderly people who wish to socialize, learn, and lead an active lifestyle. No one is judged by their age here — on the contrary, the life experience and wisdom of participants create an atmosphere of respect and goodwill.
Sometimes, it only takes one step to fill life with new colors: to attend a class, meet new people, try one's hand at creativity, or simply enjoy company. Perhaps this is where a new, bright chapter of an active and fulfilling life will begin for someone.
