Italian investors are interested in implementing a number of projects in Kyrgyzstan
The process of ratifying the agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Italy, aimed at encouraging and protecting investments, is currently nearing completion. This document is intended to create stable and favorable conditions for investors, as well as to strengthen partnership ties between the two states.
Recently, Kyrgyzstan welcomed a delegation from the Italian company TRITOR, where a meeting took place at the National Agency with the heads of local authorities from the cities of Tokmok, Karakol, Osh, Kara-Balta, and Bishkek, as well as representatives of relevant government agencies.
As a result of the negotiations, a memorandum of understanding was signed, which outlines the parties' intentions to implement a project for the construction of a solid waste processing plant using modern technologies from Italy. During the visit of the Italian delegation, landfills for solid waste in Tokmok and Kara-Balta were showcased, which are being considered as potential sites for the project. The preliminary investment amount is estimated to be between 10 to 12 million euros. Italian investors expressed interest in a long-term lease of land for up to 30 years on mutually beneficial terms.
Additionally, the possibility of supplying equipment for the processing of medical waste to one of the medical institutions in the Chui region was discussed, with an estimated cost of around 700 thousand dollars. The company expressed its readiness to consider special supply conditions, taking into account the social significance of the project. Consultations on preparing the investment agreement are currently ongoing.
The National Agency also held a meeting with the company Valli Estensi, which is engaged in the production of tomato products. The Italian side was informed about the investment opportunities in the Kyrgyz Republic, including the agro-industrial sector, and expressed interest in further exploring the prospects for cooperation.
A working meeting was also held with representatives of the company Unimpresa, where possible areas of joint activity and formats for business partnership were discussed.
Negotiations also took place with the participation of the Deputy Ambassador of Italy to Kazakhstan, the director of the office of the Agency for the Promotion and Internationalization of Italian Companies Abroad, as well as representatives of the consular section of the Italian embassy. The Italian side noted that the Kyrgyz Republic is among the 15 priority countries for Italy and expressed a desire to deepen economic cooperation.
Furthermore, special attention was given to the initiative to hold a business forum in the format of "Central Asia + Italy." The Kyrgyz side confirmed its readiness to provide full support in the preparation and conduct of this event.
To further expand cooperation, the National Agency initiated requests for assistance in establishing contacts with relevant Italian development institutions, such as the Italian Trade and Investment Agency and the FederUnacoma association, as well as for conducting thematic online negotiations with interested companies.
