In Bishkek, an event for women's rights was held in honor of March 8th.
Members of the organizing committee noted that obtaining permission for the event this year proved to be challenging. Initially, the organizers were denied permission to hold a march under the pretext of ensuring safety, and only a gathering in the park was allowed.
Activists emphasize that such events are extremely important in light of the ongoing cases of violence against women.
Among the participants were parliament deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva, former ombudsman Atyr Abdrakhmatova, as well as human rights defenders, bloggers, and active members of society. They highlighted the need to discuss the issue of violence and support for the victims.
