This year, there will be no traditional march dedicated to International Women's Day on March 8 in Bishkek due to security concerns. Instead, the organizers will hold a peaceful action in Gorky Park from 12:00 to 13:00.
The city administration has granted permission for this event. This was reported by Aigul Storozhuk, a representative of the organizing committee, in an interview with the publication 24.kg.
Special safety recommendations have been prepared for the participants of the action. The organizers urge everyone interested to familiarize themselves with these points in advance.
As noted by the organizing committee, at the beginning of the event and throughout the action, the organizers, along with police officers, will monitor the content of the participants' posters.
To participate in the action, registration on-site will be required.
The organizing committee emphasized that the main goal of the event is to protect women's rights and draw society's attention to important issues such as domestic violence and femicide.
