Chyngyz Kozhoshev, the head of the State Penitentiary Service, visited Correctional Institution No. 27 and made the decision to release the akyn Askat Zhetigen from the punishment isolation cell. He also reminded the staff of the institution about the necessity of respecting the rights of prisoners to decent living conditions. This was reported by the akyn's lawyer Nurbek Toktakunov on social media.
“Askat Zhetigen himself informed me about his release and expressed gratitude to everyone who supported him,” the lawyer noted.
It is worth reminding that earlier the akyn shared information in his letter about the unacceptable conditions in the colony, as well as about pressure and threats from the staff, which led to his unjust imprisonment in the SHIZO.
