The outstanding master of ceramics Eshbolot Toktogonov has passed away
On February 27, 2026, Eshbolot Toktogonov, an outstanding artist-ceramicist and honored figure of culture of the Kyrgyz Republic, passed away at the age of 84. This sad news was reported by the Ministry of Culture, Information and Youth Policy of the KR.

The Ministry of Culture noted that Kyrgyz art has suffered a tremendous loss. Eshbolot Toktogonov was not only a master of unique talent but also an innovator, whose creations became an integral part of the national cultural heritage.

The artist was born in 1942 in the village of Sovetskoye, located in the Kemin district. In 1962, he completed his studies at the Frunze Art College, and then, in 1971, he received a diploma from the Moscow State Academic Art Institute named after Stroganov.

From 1971 to 1996, Toktogonov worked as the chief artist at the Frunze Glass Factory and as a designer for the Art Fund. Since 1980, he became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.

Eshbolot Toktogonov's works were known far beyond the borders of Kyrgyzstan; his pieces represented the country at international exhibitions and prestigious ceramics competitions in countries such as Italy (Faenza), France (Vallauris), and Germany.

In 2023, he held a solo exhibition titled "The Power of Spirit," where he showcased his works and shared his experience in hand-forming ceramics.

The Ministry of Culture and the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after Gapar Aitiev expressed their sincere condolences to the family, friends, and students of Eshbolot Toktogonov.
