Dastan Bekeshev on the Issues Faced by Drivers of Categories C and D: Licenses Should Take Subcategories into Account
He raised the question: "Why, having a category D license, does a driver need to undergo training to obtain D1? For example, a person driving a KamAZ cannot get behind the wheel of a small truck? Or a driver working on a 16-seat bus is not allowed to drive a vehicle with only eight seats?"
In response to his remarks, the director of the State Center for Vehicle Registration and Driver Training, Tynychbek Saidov, clarified that a new procedure for driver training will be introduced in November 2025.
According to him, no training is required to obtain the D1 subcategory — it will be sufficient to pass additional practical testing. If the test is passed successfully, the driver will be issued a D1 license.
Bekeshev also noted that many people who previously drove buses can no longer work on minibuses, which creates significant problems for them. "So many companies cannot perform their functions, and drivers cannot carry out transportation," he added.
In this regard, Bolotbek Borbiev supported the need for further discussion on the issue of subcategories.
