The Bishkek City Hall conducted an inspection of cemeteries, during which the inspection commission identified a number of violations. This was reported by the press service of the city hall. The inspection involved Deputy Mayor Victoria Mozgacheva, as well as Bishkek City Council deputies — Taalaybek Daiyrbekov and Zhanibek Asanbekov, who make up the commission.
The first place inspected by the commission was the Southwest Cemetery, which has been closed for burials since January 1, 2021, following recommendations from several state agencies, including the State Inspectorate for Environmental and Technical Safety.
During the inspection, problems were identified regarding the maintenance of the territory, the accounting of burials, and the organization of the municipal enterprise's activities. The commission mandated a complete inventory of burial sites and the preparation of proposals to improve the cemetery's condition in accordance with established standards.
The commission also visited the cemetery in the area of the village of Orto-Sai, which is now under the city's management, as well as the Muslim cemetery in the residential area of "Kok-Zhar." The municipal enterprise "Bishkek Agency of Funeral Services" has been tasked with ensuring control over land use and improving infrastructure, accessibility, and compliance with maintenance rules.
The inspection aims to ensure a quality analysis of the municipal enterprise's operations, compliance with legislation, improvement of the quality of services provided, as well as an assessment of the effectiveness of resource use and municipal property.
