An exhibition dedicated to the expedition of Nikolai Roerich opens in Bishkek
Svyatoslav Rerich, a renowned artist and scholar, returned his parents' legacy from India to their homeland in 1989 and established the museum named after Nikolai Rerich in Moscow. Lyudmila Shaposhnikova became his trusted representative and the permanent director of this museum.
Shaposhnikova is an outstanding orientalist, writer, and philosopher, also known as an honored figure of arts in Russia and an honorary member of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. She served as the general director of the Nikolai Rerich Museum from 1990 to 2015.

From 1975 to 1980, Lyudmila Shaposhnikova independently followed the route of Rerich's Central Asian expedition (excluding China). The result of her journey was the photo album "From Altai to the Himalayas," which showcases her talents as an author and photographer.
Her creative legacy includes 35 books and over 500 articles dedicated to both the artistic activities of the Rerich family and the culture and history of the peoples of India.
