Due to the serious situation in Mexico, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan has urged its citizens to postpone trips to the country. The agency noted that the unrest in some regions of Mexico is a consequence of an operation during which Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, better known as El Mencho, the head of the Jalisco New Generation cartel, was killed.

Citizens currently in Mexico at the time of the announcement are advised to be particularly vigilant, avoid crowds, and follow the instructions of local authorities.

In case of emergencies, Kyrgyz citizens can contact the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in the USA and Canada (Washington) at the following phone numbers: +1 202 449 98 22 and +1 202 256 29 24, as well as via email at [email protected].

Additionally, they can reach the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic at +996 999 312 002.

As previously reported, following the elimination of El Mencho, mass riots began in Mexico. In various states of the country, armed cartel members started blocking roads, setting vehicles on fire, and attacking law enforcement. Several cartel members were killed during the operation, and there are also injuries among the military.

According to the latest information, dozens of suspects have been detained in several states. Due to the deteriorating situation, airlines are canceling flights, and authorities strongly recommend that tourists remain in their hotels and adhere to safety measures.
