Deputy Director of the Transport and Infrastructure Development Department of the Bishkek City Hall, Abdyjaparkul Janbolotov, announced plans for the construction of the first transport interchange in the city. The construction will be financed from the local budget and will take place at the intersection of Young Guard Boulevard and Leo Tolstoy Street.
According to him, the project was completed last year, and this year it has been included in the title plan for road construction scheduled for 2026.
“As soon as the budget and title list are approved, we will begin the implementation of the project. Then a contractor will be selected, a contract will be signed, and work will begin,” added Janbolotov.
Additionally, he mentioned another interchange, the design of which is underway at the intersection of Aitmatov Avenue and Mederov Street. This will be a small interchange. Projects for interchanges on Ankara Street and 7 April, Fuchik and Leo Tolstoy, as well as at the intersection of Jibek-Jolu and Profsoyuznaya are also in development.
The plans for 2026 include the repair of approximately 120 km of roads, as well as the construction of several bridges and 20 underground passages.
“New streets that will be designed will definitely have traffic lights and all necessary road infrastructure, as well as lighting,” he noted.
