Repair and reconstruction work on the streets of Bishkek, which began last year, continues. Abdijapar Kul Zhanbolotov, Deputy Director of the Department of Transport and Road Transport Infrastructure Development of the city administration, shared this information on the air of Birinchi Radio.
Zhanbolotov noted that the plan for the reconstruction and construction of roads was successfully completed in 2025, with a total length of 92 kilometers. He also added that some streets will only be completed in 2026.
Among the ongoing works is significant repair of Deng Xiaoping Street, which was completed by the spring of last year. However, the southern side of the street was postponed to 2026 due to the start of the school season and the return of workers from vacations. Work on this part will continue this year.
As for Leo Tolstoy Street, the section from Ibraimov Street to Termechikov Street has already been completed, with only a small stretch remaining from Termechikov to Timur Frunze Street. This section will also be fully completed this year.
Additionally, Zhanbolotov mentioned the extension of Bakayev Street, which continues from Leo Tolstoy to Bokonbaev Street. He emphasized that social media claims that work on this section has been ongoing for four years, but in fact, it started in November 2024.
According to him, last year the repair was almost completed, but there were difficulties with the relocation of two gas lines. All engineering networks have been relocated, but problems with Gazprom, which was supposed to coordinate the project with Moscow, delayed the work by a year. Now that the gas networks have been relocated, the completion of the work is planned, and asphalt work will soon begin.
Zhanbolotov also mentioned issues with drainage, which is why a sewer system is being constructed that should connect to the Ala-Archa River. He noted that there are difficulties with clearing the territory, as certain areas were transferred to the ownership of the Red Book in 2022. The issue of continuing the extension of the street is currently being actively worked on. It is expected that the section will connect Bokonbaev Street with Beshenaliev Street, creating a continuous street. This year, work on the road extension and the construction of a bridge over Ala-Archa is planned to continue.
In addition to the three mentioned streets, there is another one — last year, Kalinin Street was completed in the Sverdlovsk district, and a bridge was built over Auezov Street. The remaining section of Auezov from Jibek-Jolu to Saliev Street will continue this year, as this work is listed as ongoing and included in the current year's plan.
