The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic has informed about the rules for obtaining or renewing a commercial driver's license (CDL) in the United States of America.
It has been reported that there are strict requirements for obtaining a CDL in the USA. The U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration clarified that this right is primarily granted to the following categories of citizens:
- U.S. citizens;
- green card holders;
- foreigners who are in the USA on special work visas.
It is important to note that having a Social Security Number (SSN) and an Employment Authorization Document (EAD) does not automatically grant the right to obtain or renew a CDL without the appropriate immigration status recognized by U.S. federal authorities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan strongly advises its citizens to clarify all necessary requirements in advance with the authorized bodies in the states, monitor the validity of documents, and consider possible changes in federal regulations.
