The Supreme Court reviewed the cassation appeal regarding the annulment of elections in district No. 13
Previously, the Central Election Commission canceled the elections scheduled for March 1, which Bazarbaev challenged in the Administrative Court. The court, in turn, upheld the decision of the Central Election Commission from February 13. In response, Bazarbaev filed a cassation appeal with the Supreme Court.
It is worth noting that the extraordinary elections to the Jogorku Kenesh took place on November 30, 2025. However, on December 3, 2025, the Central Election Commission canceled the registration of all 14 candidates in district No. 13 due to serious violations related to the installation of surveillance cameras, which could have affected the secrecy of the vote. Repeat elections were scheduled for March 1, 2026, and the list of candidates included 23 individuals.
On February 13, 2026, the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums reviewed its previous decision and recognized the elections in the multi-mandate district No. 13 as valid, allowing Aibek Altynbekov, Talant Mamytov, and Aigul Karabekova to become deputies. After that, the Central Election Commission filed a lawsuit in court to cancel the repeat elections in district No. 13.
