Why the construction of Bakayev Street in Bishkek has been delayed, explained the official
He noted that among the planned works are the southern side of Deng Xiaoping Avenue, the section of Leo Tolstoy Street from Termechikova to Timur Frunze, as well as the road on Bakayev Street from Leo Tolstoy to Bokonbaev.
“Social media claims that work on this section has been ongoing for four years, but in fact, the breakthrough of Bakayev Street only began in November 2024. We would have completed the work last year, but there were difficulties with the relocation of two gas lines. Gazprom has its own procedures that require project approval from Moscow. Additionally, we are facing drainage issues, which compel us to build a sewage system,” Janbolotov explained.
The official also added that there are other challenges related to the project.
“In 2022, some sections were transferred to private ownership, which created additional difficulties. We are clarifying the situation. Many doubt the feasibility of this segment, but it will be continued — we will connect it to Beishenaliev Street. This year we will continue work on the road breakthrough, including the construction of a bridge over Ala-Archa and the exit to Beishenaliev Street. With the warming, we will begin asphalt work,” he added.
It is worth noting that in 2026, the construction and reconstruction of 119 kilometers of roads and bridges is planned in Bishkek. Of these, 19 kilometers will be new roads, and 100 kilometers will be reconstructed.
