How many ethnic Kyrgyz live in Tajikistan? Ambassador's response

According to information presented by Erlan Abdyldaev at a meeting of the Committee on International Affairs of the Jogorku Kenesh, there are about 35,000 ethnic Kyrgyz in Tajikistan.

At the event, the ambassador presented a report on the embassy's work, which discussed issues related to defining the state border and strengthening bilateral relations with Tajikistan.

According to the diplomat, the ethnic Kyrgyz are distributed as follows:

Abdyldaev emphasized that the embassy maintains close ties with ethnic Kyrgyz. He also noted that from 2021 to 2022, the Kyrgyz community in Dushanbe was closed due to certain circumstances, but now plans for its re-registration are underway. This issue was discussed during the visit of the Prime Minister of Tajikistan to Bishkek on February 13, and the Tajik side expressed its readiness to resolve it.

Additionally, the ambassador reported on plans being developed for the construction of two Kyrgyz schools in Murghab and the Jergital district, as well as a proposal to increase the number of ethnic Kyrgyz students enrolling in educational institutions in Kyrgyzstan.

The deputies rated the embassy's work highly.
