In a recent interview, President Sadyr Japarov discussed the current political situation in the country following the resignation of Kamchybek Tashiev. He emphasized his determination to prevent a divide between the north and south of Kyrgyzstan.

“I will not allow a division between the north and south to arise. Such splits occur only when it is beneficial for politicians. They manipulate ordinary people. Since independence, politicians have divided along regional lines. I witnessed this in 2005 when I began my political career. Half of the government consisted of representatives from the north, and the other half from the south. I observed this with great pain and promised myself: 'If I am destined to become president, I will definitely cure this disease of Kyrgyzstan,'” he said.

The president noted that one of the methods to combat regional division is staff rotation.

“Since 2021, as you may have noticed, such divisions have gradually subsided. We have conducted rotations among the district akims and the heads of judicial bodies, the prosecutor's office, the GKNB, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. All akims and judges have been replaced. There is not a single akim from the southern regions in the south; all are appointed from the north, and vice versa. This also applies to judges. The results of this work are already visible - the level of division has significantly decreased. God willing, we will reach the ayil okmotu as well. Without this, it often happens that the head of the ayil okmotu, being from his own village, allocates all resources in favor of his relatives,” added Sadyr Japarov.

Additionally, he noted that such measures are being taken not only in personnel policy but also in the educational sphere.

“We opened the 'Akyilman' school, where the most talented children from the northern and southern regions study in a boarding school format in Cholpon-Ata. In the next two to three years, such schools will appear in all regions. Ultimately, seven to eight 'Akyilman' schools will be established across the country.

Children study together, regardless of their region. For example, in Cholpon-Ata, kids from all over the country study, and the same will happen in Osh - children from all regions will gain knowledge. I hope this will become the standard for all regions. After graduating from these schools and universities, young people will be able to enter public service. Last year, I initiated a bill that has already come into effect,” he noted.

The president also mentioned an important decision regarding the rotation of students.

“Starting in September of next year, budget-funded students will begin studying under a rotation system. This will completely eliminate the 'north-south' problem in the future,” concluded Sadyr Japarov.
