The event was organized by the Department of Agricultural Crop and Horticulture Expertise of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, in collaboration with the AgroLead group of companies and the Kyrgyz Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture (KNIIZ).
Farmers engaged in seed production from all corners of Kyrgyzstan, representatives of cooperatives, state and private seed farms, universities, international organizations, as well as leading specialists in the agricultural sector gathered at the forum.
The goal of this forum was to emphasize the strategic importance of seed production as one of the key factors for increasing crop yields and the competitiveness of agriculture in Kyrgyzstan.
Special attention was given to informing farmers about the significance of high-quality seed material, attracting investments, and forming a systemic approach to the development of the seed production sector.
Considering the existing problems, such as the shortage of high-quality seeds, outdated breeding bases, and insufficient cooperation between science, business, and the government, the forum became an important platform for uniting the efforts of all stakeholders and finding joint solutions.
The program of the event included panel discussions, practical presentations from experts, and a specialized exhibition of seeds and modern technologies.
Participants discussed key issues, including national policy and strategy for seed production development, the implementation of new technologies in seed production, the role of cooperatives and private farms, as well as quality standards and certification of seed material, and effective mechanisms for interaction between science, business, and the government.
As a result of the forum, it was planned to adopt a resolution with specific proposals for the development of the industry, as well as to sign a memorandum of cooperation in the field of seed production between the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Dutch company HZPC, and the AgroLead group of companies.
Thus, the forum became an important step towards creating a sustainable, innovative, and competitive seed production system in Kyrgyzstan.
