The forum titled "The Future of Seed Production in Kyrgyzstan: Quality, Innovation, Partnership" has opened in Bishkek, aimed at the strategic development of the country's seed production sector.
The event is organized by the Department of Agricultural Crop and Horticulture Expertise, the AgroLead Group of Companies, and the Kyrgyz Scientific Research Institute of Agriculture (KNIIZ), as reported by the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.
Farmers and seed producers from all corners of Kyrgyzstan, cooperative participants, representatives from both state and private seed production enterprises, specialized universities, and international organizations, including leading experts in the agricultural sector, gathered at the forum.
The goal of the forum is to enhance the strategic significance of seed production for improving crop yields and the competitiveness of Kyrgyzstan's agriculture.
The focus of the event is on raising farmers' awareness of the importance of quality seed material, attracting investments to the sector, and forming a systematic approach to the development of seed production.
The forum provides a platform for discussing current challenges, such as the lack of high-quality seeds, outdated breeding bases, and insufficient cooperation between science, business, and government.
The program includes panel discussions, presentations from practitioners, and a specialized exhibition of seeds and the latest technologies.
Participants discuss key issues related to national policy in seed production, the implementation of modern technologies, the role of cooperatives and private enterprises, as well as mechanisms for interaction between science, government, and business to ensure the quality of seed material.
At the end of the forum, a resolution with specific proposals for the development of the sector will be adopted, and a Memorandum of Cooperation in Seed Production will be signed between the Ministry of Agriculture, the Dutch company HZPC, and the AgroLead Group of Companies.
This forum represents an important step towards creating a sustainable, innovative, and competitive seed production system in Kyrgyzstan.
